A fire Chief has written;
"We have experience with it on different types of fire from a burning car, private home, apartment block and a hotel complex. From what we have experienced up to now, the efficiency of the Snuffer is comparable to a standard pumper, 625 GPM or 840 GPM.
The time taken to extinguish a car fire is about 8 to 12 seconds and we used about 15 to 20 gallons of water with a foam ratio of .03 of 1%.
Another advantage of using the Snuffer is the absence of re-ignition using the foam as compared to the use water only.
The ratio that we use 0.3% gives use the equivalent of 1000 gallons of water as a striking force on a fire. The tank capacity of our truck is 180 gallons. The response time of the Snuffer mounted on 3/4 ton pick-up is about 33% faster than a normal 840 GPM pumper carrying 1000 gallons of water.
It is easier to maneuver in city traffic as it is narrower than a pumper. In a non-urban area, where there is a lack of water, we are able to fight fire with the use of much less water since we multiply by 5 the capacity of extinction by the Snuffer.
Also another point is the cost of operation of the Snuffer is a lot cheaper than the operation of a pumper.
In conclusion, we are very proud and satisfied with the use of the Snuffer since it has been in service. In my opinion the Snuffer is the technology of the future in the suppression of fire."
